MANDATE

Constitutional Mandate

The state recognizes the vital role of the youth in nation-building and shall promote and protect their physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual, and social well-being. It shall inculcate in the youth patriotism and nationalism, and encourage their involvement in civic affairs.

(Youth in Nation-Building Act: An Act creating the National Youth Commission, Establishing a National Comprehensive and Coordinated Program on Youth Development, Appropriating Funds Therefore, and for Other Purposes.)


There is hereby created the National Youth Commission xxx (which shall) provide the leadership in the formulation of policies and in the setting of priorities and direction of all youth promotion and development programs and activities; encourage wide and active participation of the youth in all governmental and non-governmental programs, projects and activities affecting them, harness and develop the full potential of the youth as partners in nation-building; and supplement government appropriations for youth promotion and development with funds from other sources.

VISION
The National Youth Commission, as the lead policy-making and coordinating government institution for youth development shall be composed of dedicated selfless men and women imbued with the values of honesty and integrity.

The Commission commits itself to the survival, protection, development, and participation of the youth towards empowerment, global competitiveness, patriotism, social and moral responsibility, and love of God. These shall be achieved through strong partnership between and among the government, private and youth sectors, serving with the highest degree of professionalism and competence in an atmosphere of unity, teamwork and camaraderie.


MISSION
To lead in policy formulation, prioritization and direction of all development programs for the Filipino youth, to harness the youth's full potential and encourage their active participation in nation-building.

To promote and protect the youth's physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual and social well-being and inculcate in them desirable values for civic efficiency, productivity and social responsibility towards freedom from fear, hunger and injustice.

The Commission shall accomplish its mission inspired by the idealism, dynamism, integrity and drive for excellence of the Filipino Youth under the guidance of the Almighty God.
