The Green Brigade is a a Youth Environmental Corps in all Katipunan ng Kabataan. It is organized by the Sangguniang Kabataan in every barangay nationwide in coordination with the DENR, DILG and NGOs and aims to promote environmental awareness and action among the Filipino Youth.

VISION
"A youth sector actively involved in environmental action and advocacy, dedicated to a community-focused sustainable development in the Philippines."

 

MISSION
"The Green Brigade, a community-based organization, shall promote sustainable development in local communities of the Philippines through action and advocacy for environmental equality and social justice."

 

OBJECTIVES
A. General Objectives

  1. To mobilize the youth for sustainable development in local communities in the Philippines;
  2. To strengthen participation of the youth in the formulation of Loca Environmental Action Plan.

B. Specific Objectives
  1. To organize an environmental corps to be named as Green Brigade in all Katipunan ng Kabataan in all barangays;
  2. To be involved in information, education and communication campaign on environmental protection, conservation, rehabilitation and advocacy;
  3. To establish networks with government and non-government organizations/agencies in the implementation of environmental plans and advocacies;
  4. To get the youth represented as a separate sector in the Philippine Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) and local peace and development councils;
  5. To develop a Local Youth Environmental Action Plan for every barangay.

 

WHAT GREEN BRIGADE DOES
It formulates and implements a doable and feasible Barangay Youth Environmental Action Plan that is anchored on the National Youth Evironmental Action Plan.

 

GB-DENRO
There shall be a Deputized Environmental and Natural Resource Officer (DENRO) in every barangay who shall assist the DENR in monitoring and reporting violations of environmental laws and related cases.

He/she shall be elected among the Green Brigade members provided that he/she is between 18 to 21 years old.

 

NYEAP
National Youth Environmental Action Plan

The NYEAP, which is the basis of Local Youth Environmental Action Plan in barangay/cities/municipalities, provides among others the following components:

  1. Philosophy and Concept of Ecology and Sustainable Development
  2. Current State of the Environment of the Philippines
  3. Environmental Responsibilities, Functions and Rights of Youth and Youth DENRO

 

NGBCC
National Green Brigade Coordinating Committee

The NGBCC, which is responsible for formulating the NYEAP, coordinates and monitors its implementation. It is composed of:

  1. Chairperson of NYC as Overall Coordinator
  2. DENR representatives
  3. DILG representatives
  4. SK National Federation President
  5. Two (2) youth environmental NGOs
