Youth Entrepreneurship Program

A program that enables the youth to become entrepreneurs through business training and mentorship and the provision of a loan facility to pave the way for the development of more young entrepreneurs in the countryside.

Accomplishemnts for 2003
4 orientation/seminars attended by 288 youth
2 Basic Entrepreneurial Development Course trainings implemented in Albay, with 56 trainees
1 training of trainers conducted, with 27 accredited BEDC trainers nationwide
2 Fund Conduits facilitated and accredited, with 5.4 million credit line approved

Kabataan 2000


NYC serves as the secretariat of this program, which started off as a summer work program for students. The K2000 is implemented year-round by various government agencies, giving temporary employment and employment training to youth.

Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan (KALAHI)


A comprehensive poverty-alleviation program of the government, done with various government agencies, the NYC serves as the KALAHI secretariat.

In 2003, 80 Kalahi-GIP were accepted in NYC.

Government Internship Program

Enrolled in the Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan (KALAHI) program of the administration as the NYC’s contribution to the poverty alleviation program of the government. NYC arranges for other government agencies and private companies to hire out-of-school, unemployed youth as interns who receive a monthly stipend that is 75% of the minimum wage.

178 GIPs hired in NYC Head Office and Area Offices in 2003.
