Advisory Council

Section 14 of Republic Act 8044 provides for the creation of the Youth Advisory Council, and governs its composition, meetings and functions.

The Advisory Council functions as a consultant of the NYC on important matters relating to youth affairs, welfare and development. The body may form task forces which shall convene between the meetings of the Council to discuss certain youth programs or issues. The NYC in turn provides the technical support and the Secretariat required by the Advisory Council.

The Youth Advisory Council is chaired by the Secretary of the Department of Education, and is composed of the heads of the following government agencies:

  • Department of Budget and Management
  • Department of Social Welfare and Development
  • Department of the Interior and Local Government
  • Department of Agriculture
  • Department of Foreign Affairs
  • Department of Labor and Employment
  • Department of Environment and Natural Resources
  • National Economic and Development Authority
  • Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office
  • Philippine Sports Commission
  • Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Youth, Women and Family Relations
  • Chairperson of the House Committee on Youth and Sports

The following government agencies are included as permanent guests to the Advisory Council:

  • Department of Health
  • National Anti-Poverty Commission
  • Commission on Higher Education
  • Council for the Welfare of Children
  • National Commission for the Role of Filipino Women
  • Technical Education, Skills and Development Authority
