Youth Fair Commemorates NYC 9th Anniversary
More than one thousand youth clientele celebrated the 9th Anniversary of the National Youth Commission last August 7, 2004 with a youth fair at Clamshell 2, Intramuros, Manila.
Celebrity youth advocate, Karyll, opened the exhibits, together with NYC Chairman Bam Aquino and Commissioner Araceli Aves.
The event was well attended, with students from the Philippine School of Business Administration, Philippine Normal University, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, University of the Philippines, National University, St. Paul College of Manila and other schools sending representatives to the day-long activities.
The cheering squad of PNU, the Philippine Taekwondo Team and the Ateneo Arnis team gave demonstrations that delighted the crowd.
Featured in booths were the Foundation for Adolescent Development, SIKLAB, TESDA, CHED, DepEd, Sangguniang Kabataan, Gawad Kalinga, PNVSCA, Youth For Christ and some muslim youth organizations. Some ideas for future businesses were also given by the Dae Kuk Corporation, who produce soap from recycled cooking oil, CYCHINSS, a chocolate products maker, and Sapin de Liliw, maker of quality footwear.
Some TAYO finalist organizations who introduced their projects to the public were the UP Mu Sigma Phi Fraternity, Rotaract Peacemaker Youth Club, SAVE ME, My Zoo Volunteer Foundation, UP Task Force Arki and GenRev Network.
There was also a henna tattoo artist, a fortune-teller, a marriage booth and an On-Air booth in the area for the maximum enjoyment of the youth who attended.
For entertainment, there were a lot of raffle draws, games and music supplied by Out of the Box, Silver Band and some acoustic artists.
The activity was sponsored by Samsung, Goldilocks, Smart, Globe, Level-Up, Video City, Chikka and Avon.
