THE MEDIUM-TERM YOUTH DEVELOPMENT The 2005-2010 Medium Term Youth Development Plan (MTYDP) is a product of desk reviews and series of consultations on young Filipino's issues and concerns with representatives of youth and youth serving organizations. The youth's perception on issues, (outlined in Youth Attributes, Participation and Service Providers' or YAPS), that affect them have served as important inputs in crafting the MTYDP. The MTYDP serves as a guiding framework for youth development and empowerment. It outlines steps that will help concretize what the youth themselves desire. Employment A program that enables the youth to become entrepreneurs through business training and mentorship and the provision of a loan facility to pave the way for the development of more young entrepreneurs in the countryside. |

Sikap Kabataang Pinoy NYC serves as the secretariat of this program, which started off as a summer work program for students. The Sikap Kabataang Pinoy is implemented year-round by various government agencies, giving temporary employment and employment training to youth.

Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan (KALAHI) A comprehensive poverty-alleviation program of the government, done with various government agencies, the NYC serves as the KALAHI secretariat.

Government Internship Program Enrolled in the Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan (KALAHI) program of the administration as the NYC’s contribution to the poverty alleviation program of the government. NYC arranges for other government agencies and private companies to hire out-of-school, unemployed youth as interns who receive a monthly stipend that is 75% of the minimum wage. |
