TAYO Search Now on Its Second Run
The National Youth Commission (NYC) and the Office of Senator Kiko Pangilinan recently launched this year's search for the Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) at My Cinema in Greenbelt 3 at the Ayala Center in Makati City.
NYC Chairman Bam Aquino expressed optimism that this year's crop will once again inspire enthusiasm among our youth, making them realize that there are a lot of possible avenues to direct their idealism and positive energies.
"We are confident that this year's TAYO, carrying the theme "Defy To Modify," will encourage more young people to find innovative solutions and to challenge the status quo through the organizations to which they belong. As movers in their communities, they can, through simple, replicable projects, make a difference in the lives of the people they desire to serve and in the cause they choose to espouse," Aquino said.
Among this year's developments is the expansion of the search to include semi-finals in Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and the National Capital Region. Winners in these Area Finals will participate in the national judging to be held in Manila in April 2004. Each TAYO national winner will receive a P50,000 cash grant to continue their projects.
The search is open to all youth organizations, clubs and societies with at least 15 members aged 15 to 30. Winners will be judged based on a recent project or program that left a positive impact in their communities and which best reflects the efforts of the youth sector towards nation-building.
Entry forms are available at the NYC office, the office of student affairs of colleges and universities, the National Movement of Young Legislators other government agencies.
