Proud as One!

Southeast Asia Games 2005 (SEA Games) was a big bang to me. I was one of the lucky volunteer who belong to the batch of screening qualified volunteer. About my experience with volunteers, it is difficult to summarize the experience in a few words. Working with volunteers has changed my life, truly. Volunteering has changed my life and in many ways has enriched it too. The volunteers have opened my eyes to parts of the world that did not really exist for me, except through newspaper articles.

Having worked with them I feel much more like a citizen of the Philippines than I ever did. Helping them erase the memories of the losses and recreate a life and a home in this country is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done.

As we define our own meaning of the word V-O-L-U-N-T-E-E-R we our ready to face the challenge to help and to cheer for our own country – the PHILIPPINES. They give us the gift of a new opportunity to involve the Southeast Asia Games (SEA Games) 2005, it follows.

V- Vigorous
O -Organized
L - Lively, loyal
U- Understanding
N- Noble
T- Time Conscious
E -Energetic
E- Educated
R- Reliable

A full of joy on face finally understand the signs i see on different venues. All of these things fill me with happiness. I have had challenging jobs before, stressful jobs, but I have never felt as useful as I do now. I feel that I am achieving what my parents taught me one should achieve ? Improving someone¡¯s life a little bit and giving them choices. Maybe there is also a selfish note in all of that. It is that working with volunteer has helped me to accept what my life now. It has helped me to see that no matter how tiring job might be, they are still nothing compared to the experiences that volunteer have had.

The fear of losing them as the SEA Games ends life is something they have endured for longer than I have and in far I looking forward for the friendship I made. They make me appreciate my life and they. make me feel incredibly grateful for all I have. To all the volunteers- THANK YOU and Mabuhay ang mga Volunteers.
