NYC Calls for National Museum Volunteers
Background:
The National Museum’s Museum Education Division links the institution to the public it serves by disseminating the museum’s scientific and technical knowledge in more understandable and practical forms through lectures, exhibitions and publications.
The National Youth Commission in partnership with the National Museum is organizing volunteers training in relation to museum operation and discipline. This volunteer activity is open to all young people who are interested to learn about museum operation and discipline. Volunteers who want to share their time and skills to National Museum may opt to choose from the following areas of interest/ fields:
- Anthropology
- Archaeology
- Arts
- Botany
- Chemistry and Conservation Laboratory
- Education (Museum Guide)
- Geology
Volunteers' Eligibility:
- Filipino citizen
- Between 17 to 35 years old, male or female
- Residing in Metro Manila
- Young professionals, students, out-of-school youth (OSY) who are interested to learn and be part in Museum operations
- Have good communication skills
- Of good moral character
- Physically and mentally fit
- Willing to do volunteer work base on museum operations for a period of one year (for at least twice a week)
Dates and Venue:
Submission of Applications- April 1 to April 16, 2010/ National Youth Commission
Screening and Interview of Applicants- April 17-18, 2010/ National Museum
Training- April 23-24, 2009/ National Museum
Volunteer Work- May 1, 2010 to April 2011 (one year)/ National Museum
