MINDANAO YOUNG LEADERS PARLIAMENT
26-29 December 2005, Cagayan de Oro City

PROJECT BRIEF

Believing the youth to have an active role in social transformation, we formed ourselves an association to continue our quest for youth empowerment through meaningful programs and projects, lobby and grassroots interfaith work, and, peace building initiatives through a strong and meaningful partnership with the civil society, the local government units and various institutions who are concerned for the development of Mindanao. We call this endeavor of youth empowerment - 밫he Mindanao Young Leaders Parliament (MYLP)? It is a network of young leaders from all the provinces in Mindanao with the aim in view of furthering the objectives of R.A. 8044 ?the Youth In Nation-Building Act.

To solidify our ranks in mainstreaming youth development, we aim to concretize our objectives by legitimizing an organization that would embody the true sentiments of the Mindanao youth through convening the THE 1ST MINDANAO YOUNG LEADERS PARLIAMENT on December 26-28, 2005, at Balay Mindanao Peace Center, 53-A 12th Zone 2 Upper Bulua, Cagayan de Oro City. The event highlights the approval of the MYLP Charter, election and induction of officers, approval of the 2006 Mindanao Youth Programs and Projects, and discussion of relevant issues affecting the Mindanao Youth.

The event intends to convene young leaders of Mindanao consisting of past and present Mindanaoan members of the National Youth Parliament and the different youth sectors of Mindanao such as the Sannguniang Kabataan, campus-based organization, out-of-school youth and others youth organizations.

i invited a friend for a dinner one time, and then he had another friend with him who tag along..we discussed about government, about youth's participation in nation building, obviously these two are very active in politics (political families) and members of famous organizations in their place of domicile, to make the story short, the discussion ended and we have to leave and I PAID for the bill... to my great shock my friend who's famous for being a good leader, volunteer, official of a very famous government funded organization ask for an Official Receipt and told the waitress to put the name of the Organization on the OR because he is going to have it Refunded or Reimbursed in their OFFICE..and his other friend seconded his request...i was really tongue tied by the behavior of this people expected to be good serviceman in their positions(this young adults are showing signs of corruption).. the other friend even bragged about a certain government event where one of them spent 7000+ gov't. money to pay for their bar hopping escapades and consider it as part of the activity... puhlezzzz...im telling these because i am disappointed..and now they are going to be participating in this Mindanao Young Leaders Parliament..Oh my God! What will happen next...
