Marami ring board and lodging houses/inns/dorms/apartments dito (whatever you may call it).

hi i just wanna ask about the list of volunteers....
for bacolod
and what is the information we get that there is an allowance during the sea games....im just only a concern citizen and ive heard that some persons were being called up and ask to work but they haven't been received as volunteers...

rolleyes.gif

i just want an immediate concern regarding the issue...plz.. smile.gif

although I realized that this is an OFF-TOPIC REPLY... I POSTED IT IN RESPONSE TO THE QUERY GIVEN ABOVE (which was also an off-topic reply). Oh well, this is my first post that is ENTIRELY off-topic.

well, it is mandatory for institutions (in this case, the RP Gov.) to give allowances to compensate for anything that the volunteer may need... as for the people asked to do work:maybe they're doing REAL voluntary work, that is, unlike the official volunteers, they won't receive volunteer allowances, perks and some freebies...

oh well, you're just a CONCERNED CITIZEN after all....

Guys, if you want to use english, please use it properly. If you cannot...

MAGTAGALOG NA LANG KAYO, 'SUS, MGA PINOY RIN NAMAN KAYO...

Wag ninyo nang dagdagan pa yung ilang super-obvious grammatical errors, impropriety at sheer errors na nasa seagames website (e.g. "RP HAS MOSTEST NUMBER OF ATHLETES," "TO UNDERSCORE THE START OF HOSTILITIES IN THE GAMES 23rd EDITION," "INAUGURATED ON TUESDAY FOR SIGNAL IT READINESS," "LOS BAŅOS VICE MAYOR TERESITA LAZARO AND LOS BAŅOS MAYOR EFREN CHIPECO".........) OH PLEASE, THAT'S ENOUGH!!! BUT THANK GOD THAT THEY'VE CORRECTED THAT "MOSTEST" THINGIE.....

And by the way, there's another thread concerning SEAG Volunteers...

Sorry for this off topic reply anyway....
lasallian
what if they called you up and after a work you did for them, they promise you that you are already in the list of the vulonteers they needed but you found out that your not in the final list of the volunteers that being posted...
lasallian
wont you be offended...????
shen brood
I think that this SEA Games had been the lousiest of them all.. maybe simply because of Peping Conjuangco sitting at the POC. Good luck to all the voluntreers and still to the SEA Games....
webmaster
hmm...sa tingin ko di iyan na basa ng Philsoc or editor in chief ng media. but anyway we are mature enough na maintindihan natin ang mga ganitong bagay and i think alam din natin na dapat itong irespeto right? being a CONCERNED citizen you can send them comments regarding sa nabasa mo.

thats the reason why nagpapatawag kami ng training.. sa mga na encounter namin most of the trainees ay hindi pa registered at dun palang magpaparegister. sa training binibigay na ang assigned task para pag nagpatawag ng training ang NSA alam na nila kung saan sila.
meynardtengco
@lasallian: i respect your opinion....well i would be disappointed, but not offended to the extent as you were. i will keep that to myself, heck... i VOLUNTEERED for that work, i wont expect to be listed officially as a volunteer or be given allowances, even if they said so. being a volunteer, you must do it... bukal sa loob. so if they weren't able to list you up, what's to cry for? that is, if you really are a VOLUNTEER...

kahit ako, nakailang long distance na call ako sa NYC, sabi nila pinoprocess pa raw, and when time passed, i became worried. when the news came... i was disappointed to hear that we who volunteered from UPLB were not accepted since they preferred full-time volunteers. but that did not stop me from doing my part as a Filipino, ibabagsak ko lang ba ang pinaghirapang itayo ng iba? no way! instead, i contributed, however small that contribution may be... before aba, wala pa gaanong makikialam, na kakilala ko, sa SEA Games but i forced them to become interested.. haha... i also started a SEA Games discussion thread in the UPLB forums... yet i dont expect to be rewarded, yung pag torch bearer ko ay sinuwerte lang ako nun... kinontact kami ng coach namin sa varsity/adviser sa running club na pumunta kami sa torch run, akala ko makikisabay lang kami.... and the rest is history.

@shen brood: tsk tsk tsk... i also respect your opinion, but here's mine: that attitude is the reason why such events turn out to be lousy... tsk tsk tsk... youth leader pa man din ang member title mo sa forums... cheer up... don't just comment, contribute to its success!!!

ciao!
shen brood
Meynard it is not my attitude that contributes to how these events become lousy.. am only sharing my opinion on the matter and I think I have the freedom to do so and you cannot supress me on that. The fact is we Filipinos are very fond of cramming and boasting... then when the event comes the reality is we cannot really make it.

I am disappointed and I think many others especially about what happened to the Basketball because of politicking. I am not saying that am not supporting it for I am and like what I always said we hope for the best of the games because it is our country's pride... am only voicing out what I see based on what I know.

For Bacolod and Cebu volunteers, please be informed that the NYC is OFF-HAND in its recruitment, selection, and deployment procedure. I went there 2 weeks ago and conducted the volunteers orientation/training. I made clear to all participants in the training that the NYC is only tapped to provide TRAINING and ACT AS LINK of CEBUSOC and BASOC to the PHILSOC, which is the hub of all operations for the games. Likewise, NYC is tasked to do the following:

1. Accredit all pre-selected volunteers by processing duly filled up accreditation
forms
2. Distribute access IDs
3. Distribute volunteer shirts
4. Distribute meal allowances

I want to make it clear that when the NYC entered into the program, the agreement was for PHILSOC to provide sponsored meals to volunteers. NO MONETARY OBLIGATION TO VOLUNTEERS is adhered into the volunteers program.

However, due to some concerns with food sponsorships, the PHILSOC decided to provide meal allowances to volunteers on a per day basis since the sponsors cannot cater to the daily meal requirements of volunteers. The delays on the release of allowances are BEYOND the control of PHILSOC. And likewise, the NYC ONLY operates on the provisions given by PHILSOC.

In the orientations we gave, it was clear to us that a lot of young people are WILLING AND ABLE TO PROVIDE SERVICE WITHOUT RENUMERATION. And upon knowing, we are convinced that the spirit of volunteerism and bayanihan continues to live on among young Filipinos.

This realization is enough proof for the NYC to continue its programs in relation to volunteering efforts of the youth in the future. Be it known that the program of the NYC on volunteerism DOES NOT STOP in the SEA Games. This is just the beginning of stronger partnerships with youth leaders and organizations.

The role of the NYC is to organize the Volunteers Program for the SEA games and it has been successful in doing such especially in creating the widest network of volunteers nationwide.

All of the concerns being faced at the moment are things BEYOND OUR CONTROL. We assure you that everything was planned well and things are seriously considered before decisions are made in trying to troubleshoot these concerns.

The downsizing of volunteers by the sports associations which led us to limit the number of volunteers in some areas is an eventuality which tells us that WALANG INAATRASANG TRABAHO ANG KABATAAN. When we asked for hands to do the work, thousands responded. We understand that a lot of you were slighted upon knowing that your were not chosen to be part of the group.. AND WE APOLOGIZE.

However, we want to affirm you that OUR WORK WILL STILL CONTINUE and we want you to take part in all volunteer efforts in rebuilding this nation.

MABUHAY ANG KABATAANG PILIPINO!
