Pendatun B. Disimban This 30-year-old Mindanaoan has his roots from Cotabato and Lanao del Sur. He finished his BS Mechanical Engineering degree at Manuel L. Quezon University (MLQU) in 1992 where he was Vice-President of the Supreme Student Government from 1991-1992 and Chairperson of union of fraternities and student organizations which established unity among the student organizations, fraternities and tribal groups in the campus. A true grassroots leader, he was committed to providing full services to the needy, especially to the marginalized youth sector. He led the Muslim Youth and Students Alliance (MYSA) to become an active group working for justice and indemnification of civilian victims of human rights violations. Disimban was spokesperson of the United Muslims for Sarah Balabagan's Freedom (UMBSF) that organized rallies and vigils for the release of Sarah Balabagan. Pvrior to his appointment as Commissioner, he was Legislative Staff Officer of the Philippine Senate for over four years. In 1994, he was elected President of the Senate Total Quality Performance Group where he earned a Certificate of Recognition. The Media Enforcers, Inc. also awarded him as Most Outstanding Youth Leader for Community Development in 1993. Disimban was a participant in the First National Youth Parliament in 1996 and Philippine delegate and elected member of the Asian Youth Council's 4th Executive Committee Meeting and 8th General Assembly held last October 1998 in Sri Lanka. He was President of the Muslim Young Professionals and Businessmen Association of the Philippines, Inc. (MYPBAP) and Integrated Muslim Students Association of the Philippines. At present, he is the National Treasurer and Asst. Sec-Gen. for Muslim Mindanao Affairs of the Kabataan ng Masang Pilipino (KAMPIL) and Director of Marawi Jaycees.
