Commissioner for Luzon

Commissioner for Luzon Mr. Girlie E. Amarillo's seriousness and commitment to public service is evidence of his youthful zest and devotion to serve and promote the interests of the youth. Commissioner Amarillo, while in his senior year, was elected Vice-President of the College of Engineering Student Council at the Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP), where he graduated with a degree in BS Civil Engineering. This experience harnessed his potential in leadership.

He later held key positions in various national organizations where he developed a heart for community organizing and development and public speaking and became involved in youth training.

He is a consensual type of leader, achieving best results by encouraging participation in decision-making, earning him commendations and citations from community and school organizations all over the country.

Prior to his appointment as Youth Commissioner, he served as member of the Preparatory Committee of the Youth and Students Sector of the National Basic Sectors' Assembly and National Technical Coordinator of the Basic Sectoral Council Members of the National Anti-Poverty Commission.

He has attended the Asian Youth Forum in Bangkok, Thailand in 1996 and headed the Philippine delegation to the ASEAN Youth Day Meeting held in Lao People's Democratic Republic in August 1999.

Currently, Commissioner Amarillo is the Assistant Secretary General for Luzon of the Kabataan ng Masang Pilipino. He has earned units in Master of Arts in Education at the Philippine Normal University and is working on his Masters in Community Development at the University of the Philippines in Diliman.
