World Youth Conference

Background 

      In connection with the 200th anniversary of Mexico’s independence and the 100th anniversary of the revolution that established the bases of modern Mexico, the country will hold a conference as acknowledgement for the youth as one of its main creative and productive forces, whose ideals and aspirations underpins the consolidation of Mexico as a prosperous and democratic nation.

      The Conference will be a meeting point for representatives of governments and civil society organizations designed to identify priorities of action for youth to be dealt with on the international development agenda beyond the Millennium Development Goals. This forum will strengthen cooperation links between countries and stakeholders involved with youth policies. 

Venue and Date: 

      The Conference will be held in Mexico City, Mexico from August 24 to 27, 2010. 

Participant’s eligibility 

  • Must be 18-35 years old
  • Must be elected by their organization, which has effective and efficient programs focused on youth and that have a local, national, regional or international impacts
  • Must respect cultural, religious and ideological diversity, including human rights and the Millennium Development Goals
  • Must have a passport valid until at least six (6) months after the date of the departure for the program
 

Expenses 

      Selected delegates’ participation costs will be covered by the Organizing Committee of the Conference.

      Application procedure is available online at www.youth2010.org. The following deadlines are as follows:

  • If through fax registration, deadline is on April 2, 2010; and
  • Online registration is open until April 9, 2010.
