NYC and Unilever to Develop Youth Entrepreneurs
The National Youth Commission has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Unilever Philippines to provide business opportunities to young entrepreneurs through a sub-distributorship program. The program will help the youth as well as provide easy acquisition of products for retail stores in the entrepreneur’s area.
Through the NYC’s Youth Entrepreneurship Program and the government’s efforts to provide more jobs, Unilever opens their doors to interested youth who are willing and able to run a small business.
The would-be youth entrepreneurs will undergo training under the NYC, Unilever Philippines and the National Livelihood Support Fund (NLSF). After graduating from this training, Unilever will provide a trolley for the easy transport of their products in their area of business.
The NLSF’s counterpart will be the provision of initial stock worth P10,000, which will be paid by the entrepreneur in small installments.
NLSF’s local conduits in areas identified by Unilever will do the selection of these youth entrepreneurs. The NYC will invite out-of-school youth in the areas to apply for the program. Those selected by the local conduits will receive the training and initial investment loan.
The program will be piloted in key cities in Metro Manila this year.
