NYC Opens Applications for Youth ParliamentAre you 15-30 years old, a member or officer of a youth organization or institution and with the intent to have your say with the youth policies being made in our country? The National Youth Commission is currently looking for youth representatives to the 5th National Youth Parliament to be held in Legazpi City this 27-29 October 2004. The NYP is a 3-day convention for youth leaders all over the country. For this year, the representatives will be submitting a research paper on the situation of the Filipino Youth obtained from local schools, government agencies, NGOs and POs focusing on one of six youth policy issues (employment, education, health, values, youth participation and youth with special needs). Aside from policy formulation and identification of important local and national youth issues, this year’s NYP will also be the venue for the validation of the Medium-Term Youth Development Plan, which is currently being formulated in the local levels nationwide. The MTYDP will guide the direction of the government’s youth development initiatives until 2010. Applications are accepted until 31 July 2004, 5:00 p.m. at the NYC Head Office, 4/F Bookman Building, #373 Quezon Avenue, Quezon City. Based on Republic Act 8044, the NYC is mandated to convene the NYP every two years. The delegates will be chosen taking into consideration equal and geographical representation among men and women. |
