GBF – CHINA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Gokongwei Brothers Foundation (GBF) is inviting young Filipino leaders to undertake a development program with focus on Chinese language, culture and selected elective studies in economics, management and other development-related fields at its partner academic institutions in the Philippines and the People's Republic of China through the GBF-China Scholarship Program (GBF-CSP).

This leadership program is intended for young Filipino leaders—outstanding college graduates and promising professionals who recognize the growing importance of China and are willing to spend ten months of study as scholars.

Upon completion of the study program, scholars are expected to return to the Philippines and contribute to the economic and social development of their region through identified post-return action plans and serve as the program's advocates, speaking about their experiences in China and how these have shaped their perspectives about Filipino-Chinese relations.

The ten-month program, which will start in July 2009, will offer selected scholars an all-expense paid scholarship that includes monthly living allowance, medical insurance, travel expenses, as well as tuition for studies in learning mandarin language, Chinese culture (e.g. selected topics on government, history, etc) and other development- related fields (e.g. economics, political science, etc.)

Application is period is until March 23, 2009.
