9 th MELAKA INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DIALOGUE
“YOUTH AND GENDER EQUALITY”

Background:

The Melaka International Youth Dialogue (MIYD) is an annual programme of the World Assembly of Youth (WAY) which brings together young people and youth leaders around the world to discuss pertinent youth issues. MIYD 2009 with the theme- Youth and Gender Equality aims to educate, increase awareness, and promote gender equality among youth.

Venue and date:

The programme will be held in Melaka , Malaysia on June 25-27, 2009.

Qualification:

• Filipino citizen
• have been serving the youth sector as an active officer or member of a youth or youth-serving organization for at least two (2) years immediately preceding the date of application
• National delegations are encouraged to register gender-balanced groups.
• no specific age limit but delegations are encouraged to include young people below the age of 30
• of good moral character
• physically and mentally fit to travel
• preferably a first time traveler; former recipients of NYC funded international programs from June 27, 2008 to June 27, 2009 are disqualified to apply
• must have a valid passport until at least six (6) months after the date of the departure for the program

Applicants without any passport details shall not be considered.

Participation Fee:

A participation fee of US$150 , inclusive of registration fee, twin-sharing accommodation and food which is payable in advance or on arrival shall be levied on all participants. Participants shall shoulder their roundtrip airfare.

Registration:

All delegates should register with the WAY Secretariat by June 10, 2009 through [email protected] . Registration is on a first-come-first-served basis
