3RD UNESCO ASIAN YOUTH FORUM
Reshaping our Future: In Search of Asian Alternatives

The national Youth Commission will nominate one (1) participant, with the following requirements, to the 3 rd UNESCO Asian Youth Forum, organized by the Korean National Commission for UNESCO:

 

  1. Filipino citizen
  2. between 18 to 30 years old
  3. have been serving the youth sector as an active officer or member of a youth or youth-serving organization for at least two (2) years immediately preceding the date of application
  4. substantial knowledge, competency and experience in sustainable development and youth issues
  5. ability to communicate a wide range of opinions on behalf of the country
  6. an open mind and an interest in promoting the initiatives and a resolution adopted at the 3 rd UNESCO Asian Youth Forum
  7. of good moral character
  8. physically and mentally fit to travel
  9. preferably a first time traveler. Former recipients of all NYC international programs from July 7, 2008 to July 7, 2009 are disqualified to apply.
  10. must have a valid passport until at least six (6) months after the date of departure for the program

Applicants without any passport details shall not be considered.

The 3 rd UNESCO ASIAN Youth Forum will allow participants to come together to tackle regional issues and to support youth-led initiatives encompassing mutual respect and sustainable development in the region. Moreover, this regional youth forum will provide an opportunity to discuss new strategies in strengthening cooperation amongst youth networks in Asia . With a view to strengthening the practical aspects of the forum, KNCU plans to operate a few youth-led pilot projects supported by the Asia Youth Fund at this time.

Each participant will be required to submit a case report describing youth projects or activities related to “Reshaping our Future in Search of Asian alternatives”. Participants will be expected to select and describe one or two youth-initiated or youth-oriented projects or activities aimed at ensuring sustainable development in local communities, regions, or nations. The deadline for submission – May 31, 2009.

Accommodations and meals for all the participants shall be provided by the organizers. Participants shall shoulder their own roundtrip air tickets. Support may be requested from the organizers.

All applicants must completely fill up the NYC International Program application form and registration form attached. All forms must be received by email or personal delivery by April 20, 2009.
