International Youth Conference
“Youth Awareness of Climate Change”

Background

The program will focus on the discussion of climate environment issues covering from the Copenhagen Summit, youth involvement and initiatives as well as the scheme Pro-Poor Conservation.
It aims to inspire young people and community the importance of working together and sharing each other the alternatives policies and programs to reduce global emission and to raise awareness on the climate change among the youth.
During the program, participants will formulate some recommendations for policy makers, international and government Institutions, and other stakeholders. The recommendation can be implemented through the action plan to be conducted and organized by youth, NGO, Governmental and International Organizations. The Conference could create a strategic action and recommendation toward related government institutions and regional/ international organizations.
The International Youth Conference is organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Indonesia in collaboration with the University of Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.

Venue and Date

The Conference will be conducted from November 7 to 12, 2010 at the Wanagama Resort, Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

Participant’s Eligibility

  • Must be 18 to 30 years old
  • those who are interested in climate change, environment issues and youth development
  • Must be representing youth organizations or institutions
  • Must have good command of English
  • Willingness to participate in the discussions and activities
  • Must be physically fit to travel
  • Must have valid passport six months before the departure date of the program. Applicants without passport details will not be considered.

Expenses

     The Organizer will provide accommodation and local transport to all participants from all participating countries. The international airfare travel expenses must be paid by each participating country or organization.
